Project Summary

The purpose of this two year project was to develop a tool for analyzing the risks to the social structures and cultural practices of First Nations communities caused by contamination of water, air and land. The foundation for the project was the concept of a Life Indicators Wheel.

Three communities participated in the first year of the project: the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (Ontario and Quebec), the Little Red River Cree Nation (Alberta) and the Miawpukek First Nation (Atlantic- Newfoundland and Labrador).

More details and final results of the project can be found in the public summary for Phase 2 of this project, which can be found in FY 2001-2002.
