Project Summary

In this project, the extent to which environmental contaminants affected the health and traditional lifestyles of the Union of New Brunswick Indian (UNBI) People was investigated. The project team wanted to determine if  foods, plants and medicines harvested in the vicinity of industrial zones, such as mines and transportation corridors, had the presence of contaminants.

Key contaminants of interest included dioxins, PCBs, metals, pesticides, and liquid manure (biological contaminants)
